Destination Imagination (DI):
Take the learning to the next level by using your imagination to build teams and solve problems, in a hands-on creative, energetic, environment. There are usually 5-7 students on a team that is facilitated by a Team Manager, usually a parent. We meet on average once a week for 1 to 1 ½ hours from October until the Regional Competition in late February. Teams who perform exceptionally well may advance to compete at the State and Global Tournaments. The goal is to have fun while learning and creating in a safe environment with a group of your friends/peers, as you work together to solve the “challenge”. Over the years Malibu has sent several teams to both the State and Global Tournaments.
This year, Malibu had two teams that advanced to the State Tournament and has one that is advancing to the Global Tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee in May!!
Adult Volunteers Needed As Team
Parents, grandparents, and/or teachers, are needed as Team Managers to facilitate our kids through the Destination Imagination process. There is training and a book to guide you through the process. We practice every week at the school on Wednesday afternoons. And our DI Coordinator (a previous Team Manager) is going to available to mentor Team Managers. Plus there is regional training available Our kids love this program – please consider facilitating a team!
